WYFP: Make Me Laugh (Please?)

We are going through dark times, my friends.

I’m not only talking about living thru The Trump years and its aftermath. I’m talking about our media landscape where corporations and streaming services are refusing to sit down at the negotiation table and work out a fair deal with actors and writers. This is the gigification of the entertainment industry.  The entertainment industry cannot be run like a fast food franchise, it will kill our culture and our economy.

How does one boycott a private equity fund? Netflix is owned by the Vanguard Group. MAX and Disney are owned by traditional corporations but for how much longer?

They are depriving the country of our late night laughs.

At this crucial time in our history, these mostly conservative obscenely rich men are ensuring nobody pokes fun at tfg. I’m not spreading a conspiracy theory, the facts are on my side.

While The Jimmies, Colbert, Amber and Oliver sweat it out on the picket line, America rushes out to theaters to lap up what little culture they can while their televisions sit in their empty living rooms.

Haven’t we been here before?

Well, yes and no.

In 1988, the writer’s strike lasted 22 weeks.

Carson & Letterman continued to host their shows — without writers. Not that I’m suggesting our late night hosts do the same, they’re under contractual obligation to strike (SAG-AFTRA)

Besides watching reruns, reality shows and the internet, what are you doing to keep yourselves suitably amused?

In the meantime, the “guys” (they didn’t invite Amber? pffft) have begun podcasting on Spotify.

This is video heavy.

Happy Labor Day!

And, WYFP?
