Why we need Ben Wikler

How do we respond so we win in 2026 and 2028? We have to understand the vote of those who voted for Trump to answer that question. There isn't one primary, dominant and decisive motivation for all Trump voters. In my view, bigotry, sexism, and misogyny are impossible to deny for all Trump voters by the nature of the case because the contrast is so great, because there are some things every single Trump voter knew. However, if prices had not been up so much, then despite their bigotry a decisive minority of them would have voted for her. That doesn't justify their vote. That can't be done. She would have been better at helping most people manage and navigate these higher prices while he will make them worse, especially if he goes through with what he said. Some engaged in invincibly ignorant mental gymnastics, anything that the Trumper realizes is a terrible mistake if carried out is not to be taken literally. Nevertheless, again, some Trump voters while bigots would not have voted for him because they would have recognized the consequences would have been materially worse for them if the higher prices weren't so tough for them. Making things worse doesn't help them.

.

.

What's happening with the vast majority of his supporters in his strongest demographic, white male high school graduates? They have this view that they are victims who are losing in this increasingly diverse world. They made themselves victims. They embraced bigotry and evil and when they did, they outed themselves as the $hi# people they are. When they were so identified, then they said if you're going to identify me badly, then I will behave even worse.

.

.

Most married white women voted for him because the white male is supposed to be the leader. That's the tradition and it fits especially well with extremist religion. They identify more by ethnicity than gender.

.

.

Many younger males embraced toxic masculinity wrongly believing it was a manifestation of strength. They think punching down and pushing for males to run and dominate society is the right thing for them to do.

.

.

Again, there are those who if they felt things were going well, in general and for themselves, would not have voted for such an amazingly bad candidate whose proposals and whose nature can only be destructive for most people. Those are the people who we must either win over or who must come to understand that keeping these people in power is untenable because they finally learned that them being in power made things worse and, therefore, won't continue to support them, Trump's Republican Party.

.

.

As it becomes clear that the results of this stupid choice are catastrophic, then we must get those who didn't vote last time but see Trump's Republican Party  must be defeated to vote with us to do so. We must make clear that this was a terrible mistake to those who voted for him who would not have voted for him if prices are lower so that at a minimum they stop supporting Trump's Republican Party. The others we must simply outnumber with our votes.

.

.

We must decrease his support. That's what the data seems to say. Why do I say that? Because Trump's vote totals in the swing states were greater than President Biden's 2020 vote totals in these swing states and the margins were significant in almost all of them. Donald Trump won 84,276 more votes in Pennsylvania in 2024 than President Biden won in Pennsylvania in 2020, Donald Trump won 66,760 votes in Wisconsin in 2024 than President Biden won in Wisconsin in 2020, Donald Trump won 12,596 more votes in Michigan in 2024 than President Biden won in Michigan in 2020. Donald Trump won 47,719 votes in Nevada in 2024  than President Biden won in Nevada in 2020, Donald Trump won 98,099 more votes in Arizona in 2024  than President Biden won in Arizona in 2020, and Donald Trump won 189,484  more votes in Georgia in 2024 than President Biden won in Georgia in 2020. In all but one of those states, Michigan, the difference between the vote total Donald Trump won in 2024 compared President Biden's vote totals in 2020 exceeded 40,000 votes. In all but two of those states, Michigan and Nevada, his margin was more than 65,000. They only account for 21 electoral college votes. We must remember that Vice President Kamala Harris only won 226 electoral college votes . She needed 44 more electoral college votes than she obtained. The smallest change possible that would have altered who won the 2024 presidential election is from Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. So we add 12,596 votes (Michigan) to 66,760 votes (Wisconsin) and to 84,276 votes (Pennsylvania) and we obtain 163,632 total votes needed. So we would need all of our 2020 votes in those three states and 163,632 more votes to win the next presidential election if Donald Trump retains his 2024 vote totals in those states. This seems like a big ask.

.

.

If we can communicate the catastrophic nature of his presidency to those who would not have voted for him if not for higher prices so that they, at a minimum, don't support Trump's Republican Party in the next midterms and the next presidential election, then we shall have greatly improved our prospects for winning back these three states. If they actually vote for our candidates in the midterms and our nominee for president in 2028, then so much the better.

We need to massively improve our ability to get our message out in a difficult media environment. That's how we bring down their 2024 presidential election totals and how we increase our own vote totals. Ben Wikler has the expertise we need to get this done.

A Kossack appeals for support for Ben Wikler as chairman of the Democratic Party

.

.

No matter whether we are Progressive or Moderate, all Democrats can agree that our messaging to the public is weak, ineffective, and impotent compared to the MAGA juggernauts of FOX News and the Far-Right independent media (Joe Rogan).  Wikler is the guy who can fix our messaging and turn the DNC into a competitive fighting force against Fascism that can actually deal decisive blows.  How can we ask for a better messaging person than a podcaster that wrote headlines for the Onion???

Wikler said Democrats also need to focus on the president-elect’s economic agenda, which he claimed will favor wealthy Americans rather than working families.
We’ve got to make sure that we are reaching people with the message that we are on their side and fighting for them,” Wikler told Reuters in a telephone interview.

"Today, the country we love needs the Democratic Party to be stronger. I have led the Democratic Party of Wisconsin for the last five years, helping to transform it into an organizing, fundraising, and winning machine, and I’m now running for chair of the Democratic National Committee to supercharge our work in every state," Wikler said in a statement. "For Democrats to move forward, we must build a big tent, organize and communicate in every place and on every platform, and find the resources, people, and focus to reach voters who currently get their news about Democrats from Republicans. That will be my mission as DNC Chair: Unite. Fight. Win."

We must communicate to voters how bad Trump's policies and presidency are for the poor and the middle class and for the nation as a whole and offer them policies that will practically in obvious ways help the poor and the middle class and communicate these policies very well to the voters we must win in order to defeat Donald Trump and his Republican Party. It starts with making Ben Wikler the new chairman of the Democratic Party.
